Mawani : Announces the Launch of the Red Sea Service, Operated by National Carrier Folk Maritime, at King Fahad Industrial Port in Yanbu

The Saudi Ports Authority “Mawani” announced the launch of the Red Sea service (RSS)  following the arrival of (Folk Jubail) at King Fahad Industrial Port in Yanbu. flying the Saudi flag as the first vessel assigned by the national carrier, Folk Maritime, to the new shipping service. Launched in collaboration with SABIC, has a capacity of up to 1,100 TEUs, helping enhance the competitiveness and operational efficiency of Saudi ports.

The launch comes as part of “Mawani’s” strategic partnerships with leading national and international shipping lines, in line with the National Transport and Logistics Strategy. It supports the Kingdom's efforts to strengthen its position as a global logistics hub while promoting the growth of non-oil exports and imports and attracting further investment.

The new service reflects ”Mawani’s” commitment to making the most of King Fahad Industrial Port's strategic location on the Red Sea and strengthening its role in supporting the Kingdom's maritime trade. With the port's high operational efficiency and fast container handling capabilities, the service will help improve supply chain performance and expand cargo transport options through the port.

The service will strengthen coastal container shipping between Jeddah Islamic Port and King Fahad Industrial Port in Yanbu, while also connecting both ports with Aqaba Port in Jordan and Ain Sokhna Port in Egypt. It will also support direct shipping routes for national exports, increase cargo handling volumes at Saudi ports, facilitate direct imports from international ports, and promote greater trade between regional markets.

King Fahad Industrial Port in Yanbu is one of the Kingdom's key ports and the largest on the Red Sea for handling crude oil, refined petroleum products, and petrochemicals. It is strategically located along the main trade route linking the Americas and Europe through the Suez Canal with the Far East via Bab Al-Mandab, with a capacity of up to 210 million tonnes.
